Hayate the Combat Butler (Hayate no Gotoku)
I'm an Otaku. People tell me this all the time. I love anime, I live it, breathe it, draw it and dream about it. The only problem with the world is that there isn't enough of it. The more I watch it, the more particular my taste becomes. It's comparable to the average man's taste for wine.
After tasting Chateauneuf du Pape he's unlikely to return to drinking Echo Falls just for the sake of it. In anime terms this is the difference between Naruto and One Piece. When I first saw Naruto I loved it, I watched every episode in record time. After I was done with Naruto, I turned to animecrazy.net to find another anime that I would like. This was how I found Onepiece. Onepiece trumps Naruto in terms of animation, characterization and humor. The difference between the two is not so evident in the first Naruto series, but it becomes more apparent when you switch over to Naruto Shippuuden.
With my tastes growing finer, it's getting harder to find anime that I find bearable. Hayate the Combat butler is not going to blow your socks off. You're probably not going to pull all nighters for it, just because you can't bear to wait seven hours before you see the next episode. But in a world where decent stuff is so poorly advertised, it'll suffice until you find the next big thing. It's moderately funny, the characters are not too annoying and the animation is distinctly average. You could find worse ways to pass the time.
Afam.
